LIFE WITH GUS

People have been asking me about how "Life with Gus" has been.

Well, it's been good and it's been bad.

Because they knew I was feeling a little depressed about having this new little puppy around, our relatives back in Connecticut sent me this nice red scarf to cheer me up.

As you know, I'm not much into this wearing of costumes and clothes, but it was a nice thought -- and I thought it looked very nice on me.

So, when I wasn't looking, Gus stole the scarf to play with. Now it's just another one of his toys!

And, as you can see from these two pictures, sometimes this little critter seems to have a real "attitude."

I mean, he doesn't seem sorry at all, and for a while he just kept on doing things wrong. At least I thought they were "wrong!"

So when my human dad wanted to take a picture of the two of us getting along (he keeps wanting to call us his "get along little doggies") I really couldn't cooperate.

And Gus looks so sweet here ——as if he had never done anything to make me unhappy.

But at least, every now and again, I would be allowed to get away and watch my favorite "Animal Planet" show on TV.

As Gus gets a little age on him, though, things are getting a lot better. Sometimes we can sit quietly together (like in this picture), and sometimes we even play-fight . . .

. . . at least I think he's playing.

And sometimes when I'm sleeping, Gus likes to get up close and cuddle a little -- just like family.

Maybe this will work out after all. . .
